Some Assembly is a group of musicians from Southern Maryland who, for more than 20 years, have been regularly heard at contra dances, folk dances, ballroom dances, waltzes, community fund raisers and festivals around the Baltimore and DC region. The group’s repertoire is eclectic, drawing heavily from traditional instrumental music from Ireland, Scotland, England, the Canadian Maritimes and of course, America. They enjoy blending this traditional music with contemporary composers, including that of band member Mary Corletta Flora. The training of members in classical and jazz genres is apparent in many of their tunes. The result is a mixture that easily lends itself to dancing or just listening.
The musicians are:
Mary Corletta Flora – flute, alto sax, and penny whistles
Adam Lee – guitar
Donna Moore Boylan – keyboard and accordion
Iain Sturrock – vocals, cajon, and guitar
Joe Klausner – fiddle, mandolin, and banjo
Past performers:
Paul Miller on guitar and bodhran
Patrick Herlihy on vocals and percussion
Cera Baker on vocals, cajon and guitar
Ted Corletta on drums
